Google is currently increasingly taking action against AI articles. The goal: The company wants to prevent and punish the publication of mass content. Many websites have already been hit with a manual penalty.

Artificial intelligence is an increasing problem for Google. Fraudsters use AI to create websites, YouTube videos and copy articles to outsmart the company's algorithms.

Your goal: You want to place content as high as possible in Google searches in order to generate clicks and thus advertising revenue. However, many contributions are incorrect or simply cheap copies.

AI articles should receive low ratings

Google regularly makes algorithm adjustments to devalue bad content. However, such measures only have a temporary effect and have so far seemed to be a kind of emergency solution. Because spam websites are always finding new opportunities and ways to climb back up in the rankings and outsmart Google.

To stop this cat-and-mouse game, Google recently adjusted its policies. An addition to the quality check on page 43 states, for example, that AI articles should receive a low rating if website operators do not want to explicitly vouch for the quality of their content.

Google penalizes mass content

The results of the so-called “Search Quality Rater Guidelines” have no direct influence on the rankings within Google searches. However, they can be relevant in that they are included in the ranking algorithms.

Website operators who rely on AI content should therefore check it for quality and truthfulness. Ideally, AI articles should be labeled accordingly. As part of current updates, Google is also taking action against mass content.

Specifically, this means that website operators who flood with articles en masse using AI should be punished. The company has placed manual measures on numerous websites, some of which are up to 90 percent based on AI content.
