Smartwatches not only serve as watches, but are true all-rounders. However, there are now numerous models from different manufacturers, so the choice is not always easy. In our weekly ranking we show you the ten best smartwatches – according to Stiftung Warentest.

Clocks now often no longer just show the time. Because with a smartwatch, many people wear technological all-rounders on their wrist. The devices can be used, among other things, to make phone calls, write texts or even listen to music. Many models also serve as heart rate and altitude monitors, count steps, calculate distances and calories and analyze sleep behavior.

However, if you want to buy a smartwatch, you are spoiled for choice. There are now numerous models from different manufacturers – depending on which functions are desired and what the product can cost.

The best smartwatches in comparison

Stiftung Warentest currently has more than 150 smartwatches and fitness trackers in its database. These include high-priced devices from Apple and Garmin as well as cheaper alternatives from Samsung, Huawei and Fitbit. In order to compare the devices with each other, the consumer organization examined how accurately they determine heart rate, number of steps, distances and altitude.

We also tested how easy the respective smartwatches were to operate and how strong the batteries were. All models also had to undergo drop, shock and scratch tests. Since they collect sensitive medical data, Stiftung Warentest also checked the apps' data sending behavior and the providers' data protection declarations.

In the following ranking we show you the ten best smartwatches. We have always listed the one with the best rating for each model. Specifically, this means: The Apple Watch Series 8 only appears once and not several times, if only the size differs.
