The ChatGPT app can now also be used in Germany, among other places. iOS users can download the language model from the App Store. All information at a glance.
ChatGPT is now available in Germany as an app for smartphones. That announced developer OpenAI in one Tweet. In it, the company writes that the application for iOS users is now available in eleven other countries after the USA.
In addition to Germany, these also include Korea, New Zealand, Great Britain, Nicaragua and Nigeria.
To Germany: ChatGPT app is free to download
The ChatGPT app is free and syncs its history across all devices. According to OpenAI, the application also integrates Whisper, OpenAI’s open-source speech recognition system that enables voice input.
ChatGPT Plus subscribers also get access to the power of GPT-4, early access to new features, and faster response times.
ChatGPT app will be available in even more countries in the future
Previously, only users in the US could access the application. With the introduction of the app at the eleven new locations, OpenAI wants to give even more people the opportunity to use ChatGPT – even on the go. Other countries are to follow in the future.
“With the ChatGPT app for iOS, we’re taking another step toward our mission of turning cutting-edge research into useful tools that help people while making them increasingly accessible,” the company writes.
Change in law could mean the end of ChatGPT
The introduction of the ChatGPT app in Germany could possibly only be short-lived. Because the EU is currently working on regulations for artificial intelligence – the so-called Artificial Intelligence Act.
For the ChatGPT makers of OpenAI, however, the corresponding drafts apparently go too far. At an event in London, OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman said the company would pull out of Europe if the EU didn’t relax the law.
