Microsoft is currently introducing a new feature for Windows. If you are annoyed by the new lock screen in Windows, you can turn it off in just a few steps.
Microsoft is currently in the middle of switching from Windows 10 to the newer version Windows 11. The older version of the operating system is therefore no longer supposed to receive any new features.
However, this does not apply to the new lock screen. Because, as Windows Latest reported, this comes via automatic update on computers with both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
New Windows lock screen can be turned off
The new version of the lock screen contains a new widget view. These widgets consist of the MSN info cards about weather, stock prices and sports. You can also open the Edge browser with one click.
However, the new view has a major disadvantage and has annoyed many users: the widgets cannot be personalized or customized.
If you are also annoyed by the new lock screen, you cannot customize it, but you can at least turn it off in just a few steps.
How to get rid of the new view
If you want to turn off the new Windows lock screen, you first have to go to your system settings. There you can easily deactivate the view.
To do this, navigate to the “Personalization” section in the system settings. Here you will find the sub-item “Lock screen”.
Now all you have to do is select the option “None” under the menu item “Lock screen status”. You have now deactivated the new view.
Windows wants to improve the new lock screen
So far, Windows only displays the MSN widgets in the preconfigured version. However, this will not be the case forever.
According to Microsoft, it will also be possible to customize the widgets in the future. However, there is no launch date set for this feature yet.
