The reliability of a car is crucial to getting from A to B safely. How reliable a vehicle is over time depends on several factors. In addition to reliable mechanics and electronics, the car brand still plays a role.

What are the most unreliable car brands?

Consumer Reports has determined the reliability of numerous cars using member survey data and analysis of over 330,000 vehicles. The consumer organization took a close look at models from 2000 to the beginning of 2024.

They were rated in 20 problem areas: from minor annoyances like squeaky brakes to major defects like engine problems. The rating scale is a maximum of 100 possible points. In the following ranking we show you the ten most unreliable car brands according to Consumer Reports.

Platz 10: Dodge

With 42 out of 100 possible points, Dodge ranks tenth in the ranking of the most unreliable car brands. The brand belongs to Stellantis and currently does not officially sell any vehicles in Europe. However, some dealers import the US models.
