Washing and spinning are among the basic functions of a washing machine. But what about the usability, durability, consumption and operating costs of different models and devices. In our weekly ranking we show you the ten best washing machines – according to Stiftung Warentest.
Washing machines can do one thing above all else: clean dirty laundry. But while they usually impress when it comes to washing, many models differ in other areas. This is also shown by a current test by Stiftung Warentest. Some devices even fail completely: they are prone to failure, do not provide sufficient protection against water damage or fail the durability test.
The best washing machines according to Stiftung Warentest
The consumer organization's database currently includes 66 washing machines – including top and front loaders from brands such as AEG, Bosch, Miele and Samsung. Since October 2024, 13 current devices have also been included. They have been tested in terms of operating costs, spin speed, durability and consumption. In the following ranking we show you the ten best washing machines from 2024.

10th place: Bauknecht WMT Pro Eco 6ZB
Tenth place in the ranking of the best washing machines 2024 goes to the Bauknecht WMT Pro Eco 6ZB with the Quality rating 2.5. The top loader received the best rating in the “environmental properties” category. It has energy class B. The Aqua Saver program also has low water consumption and is intended to conserve resources.
