They are small, robust and fast: Many people now have one or more external SSD hard drives. They offer additional storage space for backups, documents, photos and other data. SSD stands for Solid State Drive, in German: permanent storage. They are available in a wide variety of sizes and designs. But the extensive range can be spoiled for choice.
The best external hard drives
Stiftung Warentest therefore examined 40 current external SSD hard drives with one to two terabytes of storage space. Among other things, the consumer organization analyzed the speed of the drives and determined the data rates when reading and writing files of different sizes. In the following ranking we show you the ten best external hard drives.

Platz 10: Adata SE800
Tenth place in the ranking of the best external hard drives goes to the Adata SE800 with a Overall grade of 2.3. The hard drive received good reviews for its performance and handling. The power consumption even achieved the rating “very good”.
