They are considered sustainable, environmentally friendly and, if well insulated, also economical: heat pumps are playing an increasingly important role in heating. But not every device works equally well. In our weekly ranking, we therefore show you eleven heat pumps in comparison.

Heat pumps do not cause any direct emissions. This is why they are particularly popular with environmentally conscious people. In the long term, they can also be more efficient and cheaper than traditional oil and gas heating systems. However, purchasing and installing a heat pump can be relatively expensive. As part of the heating system transition, the federal government is therefore subsidizing heating system changes by up to 70 percent.

11 heat pumps compared: which are the best?

However, according to a recent analysis by Stiftung Warentest, there are differences in terms of energy efficiency, power consumption and handling among many heat pumps. The consumer organization also tested the noise level of a total of eleven devices, which were randomly selected, at full power. All devices performed well or satisfactorily in this category.

To test energy efficiency, the devices were placed in cold chambers and exposed to temperatures between plus twelve and minus 15 degrees. The pumps each had to convert a flow temperature of 55 degrees. Stiftung Warentest also evaluated the environmental impact of the respective coolants. In the following ranking we show you eleven heat pumps in comparison.
