With the onset of the cold season, many drivers have to change their tires. For many, this often means buying new tires. But a good winter tire must not only ensure a high level of driving safety in winter road conditions, but also work in dry and wet conditions.

The best winter tires? 12 models in comparison

To provide an overview, the ADAC tested twelve winter tires and compared them with each other. Not only driving safety and economy played a role, but also the issue of sustainability. The environmental impact of the tires contributed up to 30 percent to the test result.

The remaining 70 percent were made up of safety tests. A test consortium decided on the selection of products. One of the goals was to cover the entire price range from premium brands to the affordable price segment. When selecting products, only models whose EU tire label showed class C or better in terms of “wet grip” were taken into account. Twelfth place in the ADAC comparison goes to the Winter-max A1 WR22 from Winrun with the Overall score 5.5The model's driving safety rating is poor due to its pronounced weaknesses on wet roads. The results on dry and wintry roads are impressive, but the braking distance is longer than average.
