The German company Paxos Solar has developed a so-called “solar flat tile”. As part of a multi-energy roof, it can both generate electricity and reduce the energy requirements of heat pumps by using warm air.
Paxos Solar recently developed a multi-energy roof. Originally known for its solar roof tiles, the German company has equipped it with so-called “solar flat tiles”. What’s special about them is that they can do more than just generate electricity.
The new solar flat tile is multifunctional and is intended to bring about lasting changes in energy generation on house roofs. In addition to producing electricity, the system also uses the heat generated by the sun. This is intended to reduce the energy requirements of air-water heat pumps.
Solar flat tiles reduce energy requirements of heat pumps
The approach can reduce the energy requirements of a heat pump by up to 20 percent, as a test by the Technical University of Cologne shows. This not only relieves the burden on the environment, but also reduces heating costs. The solar flat tile combines photovoltaics and thermal technology to enable even more sustainable energy production.
Another advantage of the system is its quick and easy installation. The solar flat tiles are larger than conventional models, which makes installation faster and more flexible. They are also lighter than traditional concrete roof tiles. This offers additional advantages for the statics and the construction process.
Paxos Solar plans to build up to 200 multi-energy roofs
Its properties make the multi-energy roof particularly attractive for owners of listed buildings where the structural requirements are particularly high. Paxos Solar's goal: The company wants to equip around 200 roofs with the new system by 2025.
To achieve this, a crowd investor campaign is being launched to raise 1.2 million euros. The project shows how advanced technology and environmentally friendly construction can go hand in hand to create a sustainable and energy-efficient future.
