Fully automatic coffee machines are no longer just available for cafés or restaurants, but also for private use. They enable the preparation of coffee specialties such as espresso, cappuccino or caffè at the push of a button. However, the price and quality differences between many devices are large.
Fully automatic coffee machines in comparison
Stiftung Warentest tested twelve fully automatic coffee machines from 2024 as part of a test. Three sommeliers assessed the hot drinks from the different models based on their appearance, smell, taste and mouthfeel. The devices therefore had to prove how well they could grind coffee beans, brew coffee and froth milk.
The respective quality assessment also includes the time that an appliance requires for preparation and how quietly it works. Cleaning, power consumption and repairability also play a role. In the following ranking we show you ten fully automatic coffee machines in comparison.

Smeg BCC13
The Smeg BCC13 received the Overall grade 2.7. When it comes to making coffee, the model was only partially convincing. The coffee sommeliers rated the preparation of espresso and cappuccino as “satisfactory”. Stiftung Warentest gave good ratings in the categories handling, safety, environmental properties and pollutants.
