To gain an insight into the actual use of AI chatbots, the Washington Post recently conducted an extensive analysis.

The US newspaper examined nearly 200,000 English-language conversations from the WildChat research dataset. It contains messages from two AI chatbots based on the same technology as ChatGPT. The conversations form one of the largest public databases of human-machine interactions.

One of the topics for which users often use a chatbot is StorytellingIn one fifth of all requests, an AI was asked to help write fanfiction, screenplays, jokes or poems, or to participate in role-playing games. The technology's ability to form word associations without having to stick to strict facts appears to be particularly helpful. For example, AI can create book characters and write dialogues.
