How to have Google Chrome read texts to you

To do this, tap the three dots in the top right corner of your Chrome app. Under the “Translate” function you will find the new feature that allows you to have texts read out to you. To do this, click on “Listen to this page”.

For usability, Google has based the new feature for its browser on the interfaces of podcast or music apps. So you can not only have texts read to you, but you can also pause the reading, play it faster or fast forward. You can also adjust the reading voice and skip ten seconds forward or back.

As Chrome reads the text on the website to you, it is automatically highlighted. The browser also automatically scrolls down the page without you having to do anything.

When will the function be available?

Google is currently introducing the new function. If you want to check whether you can already use it, you have to click on the three dots in the top right corner of the relevant website. This will open the menu in which you will be able to find the new function in the future.

If this is not yet available in the menu, you will probably have to wait for the next update. How 9to5Google reported, the new feature is available starting with version 125 of the Android app for Chrome.

Google is also already working on this feature for the desktop version of Chrome. However, a release date has not yet been announced.

Users of Apple devices will probably have to wait a little longer. As usual, Google introduces new features for Android first. However, there is a similar function in Safari that can read out text on the website.
