Just a few weeks after iOS 17.4, Apple released another iPhone update. The new version iOS 17.4.1 does not contain any new functions, but it is intended to fix errors and close some security gaps. An installation is therefore advisable.

At the beginning of March 2024, Apple released iOS 17.4, one of the most extraordinary iPhone updates of all time. With the entry into force of the Digital Market Act (DMA), the US company was forced to implement some EU guidelines that are intended to guarantee fairer competition.

iOS 17.4.1: This is the new iPhone update

Around two weeks later, Apple has already released another update with iOS 17.4.1. The difference: The new version is purely a security update that does not contain any new functions.

iOS 17.4.1 is intended to fix errors and close some security gaps. Given the extensive previous version, it doesn't seem surprising that some problems have crept in. Apple has so far kept a low profile with exact details, but recommends installing it.

The same applies to the iPad update iPadOS 17.4.1, which was released at the same time as iOS 17.4.1. As far as we know, the new version fixes a bug that prevented QR codes from being scanned on some iPads. The problem apparently crept in with the previous version.

Install iPhone update

iOS 17.4.1 has been available for free download since March 21, 2024. Apple traditionally recommends prompt installation. The new iPhone update is available for all models starting with the iPhone XS. The version can be downloaded via the device settings under “General” and “Software update”.

With iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple has also presented a new update for the iPad. The new software is available for all devices from the second generation iPad Pro (12.9 inch), the third generation iPad Pro (10.5 inch), the first generation iPad Pro (11 inch) and the third generation iPad Air generation available. This also applies to the normal sixth generation iPad and the fifth generation iPad Mini.
